Smart K9 Helps Child Find His Missing Hearing Aid
Haro was a reliable and smart K9 pup in uniform who proved his commitment to his job. It showed when he helped a child find his missing hearing aid on the playground. He joined the Macedonia Police Department in their search and rescue mission, but his job wasn't limited within the confines of the department.
The expensive and important device went missing while the student was playing. Since it was a flesh-colored device, school staff struggled with searching for the device as it blended with the wood chips. Then, a teacher remembered a search demonstration when Haro visited their school last year. The teacher was confident that Haro was the right dog for the job as he could sniff out the hearing aid.
The school contacted the police department to seek Haro's help. At the time, the smart K9 wasn't feeling well because of an injured dewclaw. He gave the challenge a go the next day when he felt better. Haro seemed to complete the job with eyes closed.
Smart K9 found it!
He was able to find the hearing aid in a matter of ten minutes. The teacher was in awe because aside from hearing aid's small size, the playground full of mulch made the search daunting, but not for Haro. The K9 was in a needle-in-a-haystack situation as it was almost 24 hours since the hearing aid was dropped.
The teacher made the right decision of contacting the dog. Without Haro's keen senses, it might have been impossible for them to spot where the hearing aid was. The school and Macedonia Police Department were proud of Haro's accomplishment.
They considered him a hero because if it wasn't for him, the child might not be able to hear clearly again.
Finding the hearing aid might not be such a big deal for the amazing K9.
But it had been a great help for the child.
