Rescued Pitbull Wins Therapy Dog Of the Year

Aladdin the Pitbull has gone through so much pain in his past life. Luckily, for the rescued dog, he fell into the right hands and was able to make history.

Shot at life

Aladdin wasn’t always the happy go lucky pup. When the shelter found him, he looked like he was starving and was missing most of his teeth. He was also unable to bend his back legs and never sat like a regular dog.

Michelle Schaffer heard about the dog through a friend and wanted to go and see him. She went to the shelter, and the dog looked so happy to see her. He started to wag his tail excitedly and ran to her.

There was no doubt that she wanted to adopt the dog. As they spent more time together, Michelle noticed something exceptional about the Pitbull.

A year later, Aladdin was certified as a therapy dog. He always knew when someone needed to be cheered up and put himself out there. He was always good with people, but he loved helping kids the most.

Canine credentials

Aladdin always had a special bond with a lot of people. The dog’s kindness had touched the hearts of the people in his community.

Even so, Aladdin still had a tough time trying to break down Pitbull stereotypes. A lot of people were still skeptical about the breed.

Michelle loved to dress him up in cute costumes whenever they walked around town. This was to make him look more approachable.

In 2016, Aladdin won the therapy dog of the year by American Humane Association. His rescued dog story was so touching that a doctor in the crowd came up to Michelle after the show.

The doctor told her that he wanted to do Aladdin’s surgery for free. He wanted the dog to keep doing his job pain-free.

Michelle was so proud of how much Aladdin has achieved. She was glad to save him on time; otherwise, he couldn’t have touched so many lives and made so many connections.
